The “Mysterons” are rather curious creatures — at once incorporeal and cybernetic — driven by an entirely inexplicable hostility towards humans. Indeed, their remorseless objective of achieving “ultimate destruction of life on Earth” appears quite unmotivated by anything in particular, but foreshadows the implacable hatred of other such lifeless killing machines as the Cybermen, Daleks, Borg and the Young Republicans.
