Taft Steps Down, Nobody Cares

Well, this was entirely predictable.

Good riddance. Although an obviously sincere, painfully earnest fellow, Taft was possibly the world’s most mind-numbing dull person — a man so phenomenally boring that he actually made Ed Stelmach, another stupendously bland, entirely vacuous, and thoroughly uninspiring politician, look somewhat animated by comparison.

Not of course that a change of leadership (or a re-branding of the party, for that matter) will probably make a whit’s worth of a difference to the future prospects of the provincial Liberals, given the deadly combination of complacent apathy and stubborn obduracy that seems to characterize much of the electorate in Alberta.
